Centre Manager

40 hours a week  / £22,000 / (27k FTE with accommodation) / Starting 1 May 2020

This role will require you to be on-call 24/7 for emergencies or late arrivals at least 6 days a week.

About the New Economy Centre

The New Economy Centre is a new residential training centre that is being set up by Stir to Action in Mid-Devon (Selgars Mill, Cullompton, EX15 3DA). The centre will host a range of educational and recreational activities, from residential workshops to retreats and small festivals to eco-weddings.

The majority of these events will be focused on supporting individuals and organisations to build the new economy movement, while we’ll also been open for B&B and glamping bookings. We expect groups of 15-25 people for most residential workshops.

Role description

This is a live-in role and you’ll use your experience as part of a small team to set up and run the New Economy Centre, playing an essential role in launching and managing the centre over the next few years.

Your work hours will be flexible and based on event bookings, averaging around 40 hours each week and the expectation of being on-call 24/7 for emergencies at least six days a week.

We're offering a permanent position, with employee entitlements.

You will report directly to the board of directors, which is made up of fellow workers who are the three founding members.

Accommodation is included with the role.

We have a full-site vegetarian policy.

Holidays

Due to the nature of the role, holidays will need to be booked well in advance to arrange staff replacement.

Membership

The successful applicant will begin a one-year members’ journey/probationary period after which they will be invited to join the New Economy Centre as a member/owner of the business, subject to the satisfactory fulfilment of your role. 

As a member you will have democratic control within the business (one member, one vote) and will be eligible to put yourself forward to become a director.

Accommodation

The role includes accommodation, shared social and kitchen facilities, council tax, utilities, produce from the permaculture garden and proportionate personal use of accommodation for friends and family (when not in use for events). The salary is £27k FTE with a deduction for the above.
